Located right on the peak of Esquilino, the highest
of Rome’s seven hills, The Mecenate Palace Rome
is in an excellent spot to access a variety of attractions
and amenities. As well as being directly in
front of the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore,
Rome’s third largest Basilica, the ancient Roman
Forum lies ten minutes walk to the southwest, and Termini
Central Train Station less than 500 meters to the
north.
The Basilica was first constructed in the 5th
century,
the developed church still contains some original mosaics, but
its current breathtaking grandeur is due to
redevelopments, common throughout the churches of Rome, in the
13th and 18th centuries. Its mosaics,
imposing structure and luxuriant internal decorations however,
make this one of the most impressive sites of
its type in the world.
It is not only churches and history that
our four star hotel gives you access to. The areas of Monti
and Esquilino are full of excellent restaurants and trendy
bars and Irish pubs. To the east of us,
and less than five minutes walk, lies the vibrant and
multicultural Piazza Vittorio Emmanuelle with
it’s buzzing market and international
restaurants. For shopping try the winding alleyways of
Monti jam packed with independent and particular boutiques,
or perhaps the more famous shopping streets like Via
Nazionale, and slightly further away, Via del
Corso.
Within five minutes from Termini Central
Train Station,
The Mecenate Palace provides excellent access to all
modes of public transport whether train, Metro or
bus. We
are half and hours taxi ride from Rome’s main airports
and can even arrange for a collection service that
will bring you directly from your flight to our door! As
you would expect from a Four Star Hotel in Rome’s
City centre, there are also a whole host of amenities
like banks, post offices, chemists and
delicatessens within metres of our establishment.
